Indian megastar meets Governor Khalil

MALACCA: Indian megastar Rajinikanth made a courtesy call to his ardent fan Malacca Governor Mohd Khalil Yaakob.

Rajini, who is in Malacca for the filming of his latest Tamil movie Kabali, met Mohd Khalil amid tight security at the Malacca Governor's office in Seri Negeri today.

For Mohd Khalil, it was the first time he got up close and personal with the acting legend.

"I met him once on a flight. But this is my first ‘face-to-face’ meeting with this ‘great man’.

"I have been a fan of him since his Tamil movie Muthu made debut in the 1990s," Mohd Khalil said at the foyer of his office after the visit.

Mohd Khalil also declared himself as an ardent fan of Tamil movies and that Rajini has captured his heart.

"I'm glued to my seat each time I watch Southern Indian movies as they have elements of 'emotion' and 'rreality'.

"It was indeed a great pleasure to have superstar Rajinikanth with me today, " said Mohd Khalil, the Star Online reported.

He also said that he has been to Chennai, India to attend Tamil movie festivals on several occasions.

Rajini, who will be in Malacca until Friday, also gestured the vanakam (welcome) sign before leaving the Governor's office for the shooting of Kabali at an undisclosed location.
